Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Marvin Kerr, known as “Kerr Dog” to family and friends, 80 of Quitman passed away September 2, 2021 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison, Fl. Mr. Kerr was born July 12, 1941 to the late Gordon and Ella Jane Stockton Kerr. He was a member of the Pineview Community Church. Mr. Kerr retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections and was currently the fire chief of the South Brooks County Fire Department. He was a starter of the quarter horse racing and was a prize winning bull rider. Mr. Kerr loved to ride motorcycles and loved to take his grandchildren on covered on wagon rides. He loved his community and always ended each conversation, ”holler if you need me.”
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kerr of Quitman; children, Tommy Joe Kerr of Hot Springs, Ark., Waylon Austin Kerr of Quitman, and Tye Wayne Kerr of Quitman; grandchildren, Tanner Kerr, Ella Kerr, Leila Kerr, Logyn Kerr, Baile Kerr; brother, Tom (Mary) Hooker of Eugene,Oregon; sisters, Brandy McIntosh of Hunnington Beach, CA, Linda Whitford of Phoenix AZ, Barbara Thoompson of Diamond Bar, CA, Jeanette Beuca of Sacramento, CA, and Donna Deason of Phoenix, AZ.
Graveside service will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Dixie Cemetery with Rev. Stephen Hiers officiating. The family will be receiving friends Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 6-9 p.m. at Maxwell – Purvis Funeral Home.
