Tom Crager Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Carlton Crager, 69 of Quitman went home to his heavenly Father on May 11, 2023. Tom was born October 20, 1953 in Mississippi, and lived in several places throughout his life, including Jacksonville, FL, and Atlanta, GA, but spent most of his adult years in Quitman near family on Dodd Rd. He was a welder by trade and skilled in carpentry. Tom endured much suffering in his life, but even after back injuries and surgeries, he still found joy in building, carving, and woodworking. He loved the beauty of nature and would often be found outside walking or riding around the farmland where he lived. He was an avid freshwater fisherman and gun enthusiast. Tom loved his dogs Oddie/Otis (#1,2,and 3) and spent hours perfecting their training. He was affectionately called "big-tall grandpa" by his grandchildren. He loved western movies, current events, and the Christian broadcast network, and those who knew him best, now find comfort in his love of the Lord.

Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Allene (Gene) Klingbeil of St. Augustine, and Barbara May Crager of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Alexandria (Elvis) Mederos, and Nicolas (Summer) Klingbeil, Nathan Thomas Klingbeil, Noah Alexander Klingbeil, Natalie Grace Klingbeil; great granddaughter, Emmy Aurora Mederos; brother, Joseph (Kimberly) Crager of Bainbridge; sister, Jeanne (William) Tillman of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Nancy Elaine Crager of Amelia Island, FL, and Maryanne Crager of Gainesville,, Fl.; several nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends. Tom was preceded in death his parents, John A. & Billie Dodd Crager; brothers, John Crager, Jr., Robert James Crager, and Michael Alan Crager; and sister, Mary Margaret Crager; and dear aunt and uncle, Jim and Allene Seymour.

A celebration of life will be Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service.
