Thomas McLain

Mr. Thomas Harlin McLain, 82 of Adel passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his residence. Mr. McLain was born April 21, 1938 to the late H B McLain & Annie Belle Sheffield McLain.  He served in the United States Army and afterwards he became a master printer. He was also a truck driver for a while. Mr. McLain was the Happy Hay Hauler for DEP Farms, and enjoyed hiking, beekeeping, canoeing, gardening and was so happy to earn his CDL license at the age of 70 years old. He was a member of the Florida Trail and at the age of 80 he enjoyed doing the Daytona Nascar Experience.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Futch McLain of Adel; children, Greg (Jennifer) McLain of CA, Darryl (Missy) McLain of Adel, Marsha (Walter) Jagemann of St. John's FL, and Kris (Ralph) Nava of Adel; grandchildren, Bryan Jagemann, Elyse Jagemann, Sean McLain, Eric (Summer) Nava, Matthew Nava, Cassie Nava, Dustan Bushman, George (Taylor) McLain, and Jordyn (Blake) Duke; great grandchildren, Jaxon Gibbs, Kolsen Nava, Addilyn McLain, Jase McLain, and Blakely Duke; sister, Ruth Anne Posey of Albany. Mr. McLain was preceded in death by his sister, Wynelle Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Elder Dwight Marshall, and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home. Serving as active pallbearers are Greg Nix, Doug Nix, Sonny Lane, Dale Rentz, Jake Weeks, and Daniel Greene. Honorary pallbearers are the Cook County Sheriffs Deputy's and George William McLain of Carroll County.
