David Talmadge Folsom, 80, of Adel Georgia, passed away on November 1, 2020 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1940 in Adel, Georgia to David Lester and Onnie Roach Folsom. On June 4, 1961, he married Mildred Odessa Griffis in Adel, Georgia. He was a faithful servant of God. He was a member of Springhead Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1971, as a Sunday School teacher for more than 60 years, and was a member of the choir. He sang with the Crownsmen Quartet for several years and traveled all over the South spreading the gospel through song. He was a Mason and a Shriner for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 310 of Adel, Georgia where he served two terms as Worshipful Master. He worked at Cook Service Center until his retirement in 2004. One could always see Papa supporting and cheering his grandchildren in all areas of their lives. He was an avid fan of the Cook High School’s sports teams where he would often be found watching his son and grandsons play ball. He loved all the fellow players and enjoyed cheering on the Hornets. One of his favorite past times was just sitting and talking with everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred Griffis Folsom; his children, Lisa Folsom, Greg and Angela (Tucker) Folsom, Stacy Folsom, all of Adel and Chuck and Tracy (Folsom) Gray of Moultrie Georgia; his grandchildren, Zach and Marla (Ross) Folsom, Zane Folsom and Cassey Cornelius, Drew Folsom, of Adel and Amy Gray and Charlie Gray of Moultrie; brother and sister-in-law Render and Fredda Folsom, sisters-in-law Lois Folsom, Frances Folsom, and Jan Folsom Powell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dorsey and Katie Griffis, of Jonesboro, Georgia and sister-in-law Judy Griffis Miley as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Onnie Roach Folsom, as well as his in laws, Hugh and Pauline Asbell Griffis; his brothers Clifford Folsom, W.F. Folsom (Verna), Wilburn Folsom (Nettie), Billy Folsom, Earl Folsom (Sally), Settle Folsom (Wanda), Donald Folsom, and one sister Ruby Lee Folsom Guthrie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Springhead Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Lawrence, Rev. Joey Taylor, and Rev. Chad Roland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until at Purvis Funeral Home.
