Royce Lee Newell

Mr. Royce Lee Newell, 92 of Quitman passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Presbyterian Home Quitman.  Mr. Newell was born October 18, 1926 to the late George & Martha Scott Newell.  He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Phillipines.  Mr. Newell was a member of the Dixie Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion.  He loved to work in his garden, read his bible and loved his animals. 

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Moore of Carrollton, GA., and Debra (Billy) Ley of Quitman; grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Moore, Donna (Scott) McCoy, Dawn (Frankie) Johnson, Annette Adams & her late husband, Butch Adams, Stacey (Michael) Burton, and Jeffery (Kristen) Ley; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.  Mr. Newell was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Newell; daughter, Sue Ellen Newell; two sisters, Alma Mason, and Honorene Callaway; and two brothers, Austin Newell, and Clarence Newell.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Shierling officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Thomasville.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home.
