Obituary

Richard Lynn Thornton, Sr. of Adel passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his residence. Richard was born October 10, 1943 in Hamilton, OH. to the late Noah Ray & Mildred Louise Thornton. He served his country in the United States Air Force. After returning home, he was self-employed as an automobile mechanic and then worked for Cook County Ford from 1984 until 1999.

Survivors include his sons; Richard Lynn (Sandra) Thornton of Zephyrhills, FL and John Ray (Jennifer) Thornton of Adel; daughters Tina (Al) Asche of Versailles, IN and Nancy Denise Dempsey of Adel; brothers, Jerry (Kathie) Thornton of Indiana, John (Ellen) Thornton of Indiana, and Bill (Ann) Thornton of Indiana; sisters, Sandra Hale of Colorado, and Janis Blitch of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Brown Thornton.
