Mrs. Ophelia Friar, 80 of Adel passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the Fellowship Home in Valdosta. Ophelia was born May 7, 1942 to the late Jackson Duncan Friar & Louise Arrington Friar. She loved music and wrote many songs. Ophelia enjoyed visiting all the surrounding churches and she loved Jesus.
Survivors include her special niece, Tina George of Adel; sons, Johnny Mack (Kelli) George of Leesburg, and Scot George of Cartersville, GA.; grandchildren, Brittany George Allen, Tyler George, Laura (Jimmy) Shiver, Michael (Lauren) George; great grandchildren, Harper Allen, Haven Allen, Madilynn Shiver, and Ellie Shiver; brothers, Junior (Vernell) Friar of Adel, and Darrell (Wanda) Friar of Leesburg; sisters Lavone (Elton) Webb of Valdosta, and Betty Gunter; and several nieces & nephews. Ophelia was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Griffin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 3:00 at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
