Michael Hughes

Michael Hughes, 47 gained his heavenly reward on Friday, May 14, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on January 19, 1974 to the late Van LaVon Hughes and Louise McInVale Hughes. He served his community faithfully and compassionatley as a funeral director for 25 years at both Boone and Purvis Funeral Home. He was always full of joy and laughter, no matter what. Michael was a great friend and never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Kristin Hughes; his mother, Louise Hughes; sister Sylvia (Robert) Flynn; two brothers, Steven Hughes and Allan Hughes; aunt and uncle Wanda Faye and Carey Combus; brothers in law, Sterling Brantley, Garth Brantley, John (Brandy) Brantley; nieces, Courtney (Michael) Stabler, Alicia (Jacob) Cox, Kristen Flynn, and Mackenzie Brantley; nephews, Robert Flynn, Jr, Ryan Flynn, Cameron Hughes, Avery Hughes, and Jayden Brantley; great nieces, Willow Stabler, and Jolene Cox; great nephews, Dalson Stabler, and Easton Stabler; special cousins, Robert Kelley and Kathy Folsom; numerous other loving family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his grandpaents, Van Mirl Hughes and Netta Mae Thornton Hughes; and a niece, Katilyn Smith. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 3:00 p.m at Sardis Baptist Church in Statenville with Rev. Vernon Hughes, Bro. Lawton Watson, and Rev. Tommy Dorman officaiting. Interment will follow at Carters Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home. Serving as active pallbearers are Garth Brantley, John Brantley, Stephen Hughes, Robert Flynn, Michael Stabler, Ferris Brown, and Matthew Willis. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Purvis, Brad Bostic, Jim McDaniel, John David Purvis, and Austin Davis.
