Mattie Exum

Mrs. Mattie Roberts Exum, 80 of Sparks passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, 10/21/23. She was born December 26, 1942 in Cook County and to the late A. L. Roberts and Amanda Rentz Roberts. widow of James Marvin Exum. She was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking for her family and was a beloved homemaker. Mrs. Exum was an avid sports fan, especially, the GA Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. She will be remembered for her love and compassion for her family and friends. 

She is survived by her children, Jimmy Exum of Sparks and Jamie Exum of Sparks; four grandchildren, Holly White(William), Justin Exum(Jordan), Johnathan Exum(Karly), and Jeremy Exum; two great grandchildren, Kirkland and Emerson Exum; one brother, Charles Roberts; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband James, whom she shared 46 years together; parents; sister, Vicie Roach and brothers LD and James Roberts and daughter in law, Sharon Exum.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Primitive Baptist Church with Preacher Robert Tucker and Preacher Jonathan Exum officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
