Mary Lou Ivey Williamson, 87, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022, at her home in Tallahassee, FL. She was born on October 5, 1934, in Quitman, GA to the late Charles A. Ivey and Mattie Bell Piland Ivey. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her brother, Wilford Venture, and her twin sister, Eula Mae Owens both from Quitman, Ga. On July 4, 1953, she married Drew James Williamson, Jr. and was married for 64 years, who preceded her in death.
Mary Lou retired from working at JC Penney Co. for over 30 years. She loved sewing quilts for her family and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. One of her favorite hobbies was tracking the Atlantic Coast hurricanes using their GPS coordinates on geological paper maps.
Survivors include her three daughters: Brenda Selfe (David) of Crawfordville, FL; Debra Beermann (Garry) of Lamberton, MN and Marlene Meyer (Jim) of Nokomis, FL; eight grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a soon to be great-great grandchild coming this November. Also, a host of nieces, a nephew and extended family that she leaves behind.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, GA.
