Judge Hubert R. Lindsey passed away after a brief illness on October 21, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1933, in Jacksonville, FL to Capt. Hubert R. Lindsey and Martha (Johnson). He grew up on Fort George and Talbot Island on the St. John’s River. After earning both his Bachelor and Juris Doctor degrees at the University of Florida, he became a lawyer in Palm Beach County, Florida for many years, specializing in civil cases in South and Central Florida. He was selected by Governor Bob Graham to serve as a Circuit Judge in 1986, and continued in that role until retirement in 2005. He and his wife, Jean Bryan retired to Brooks County, GA, to spend the remainder of their days on their pecan farm. His wife Jean, who he referred to as the love of his life, passed in August, 2021, just shy of their 63rd wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Basile (husband Franklin), grandchildren Michael Basile (wife Savanna), Christopher Basile, and Jennifer Basile; great grandchildren, Landon Basile and Brooke Basile; and sister Gayle Lindsey Jackson; his sisters – in - law Judy Graham, Elizabeth Wood, and Judy Bryan and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his amazing friend and caregiver, Toni Edwards.
He reflected on his 90 years recently and said, “I have had a blessed life and it was a great ride. I look forward to my next journey”.
