Senior Master Sergeant John Everett Connell, 92 of Sparks passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home. He was born August 26, 1931 in Cook County, GA to the late Byron and Katie Mae Connell. Johnny was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Korean and Vietnam War. After retiring from the service, he worked at Connell Cabinet Shop for over 40 years. Johnny was a member of New Life Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Heidi (Roger) McDaniel of Adel, Cathy (late Winston) Carroll of Sparks, and Christine (Stephen) Grigsby of Melbourne, Fl; grandchildren, April (Michael) Garrett of Adel, Will (Chrystal) McDaniel, Audra McCallum, Christa (David) Hartzog, Katie (Will) Kelley, and Olivia Grigsby; great grandchildren, John Hutchinson, Eli McDaniel (Hannah Mcilwain) Calli McDaniel, Corbin McDaniel, Lilly McDaniel, Brie (Steven) Wells, Dru Hartzog, Gideon Hartzog, Dracy (Tim) Spence, Anna Kelley, and Allie Kelley; great great grandchildren, Maeve Spence, and Vivian McDaniel; several nieces and nephews, including Connie Capito and Marcus Nees of Germany; and sister-in-law, Sara Beth Connell of Lakeland. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Lieselotte Henn Connell of 66 years of marriage; brother, Lamar Connell; and sisters, Myrtle Drawdy and Nell Brown.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Payne, and Bro. A. D. Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
