Jo Wilcox Obituary

Mrs L.R."Jo" Wilcox,91,of Quitman, passed away on August,23,2021 , in Maryville, Tn. Mrs. Wilcox was born Helen Josephine Sanders on February 16, 1930  in Richlands, NC to the late Coy R. Sanders and Emma Sanders. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman for nearly 50 years.  

Survivors include her children Lee Roy Wilcox III(Lynn) of Conyers,GA and Ken Wilcox(Tatyana) of Maryville,TN; grandchildren, Jeremy Wilcox(Cailey),Matthew Wilcox, Erin Hansen(Alex), Emily Tabb(Chris),Katie Wilcox, Karina Jurayeva and Timur Jurayev;great grandchildren Calvin Tabb, Harper Hansen, Lucas Hansen, Brooklyn Wilcox and Carter Wilcox.  

Mrs. Wilcox spent years as a devoted wife of a Marine, moving about from Quantico,VA, Camp Lejeune,NC, Parris Island, SC, Cherry Point NC, and Beaufort SC and sometimes raising her family alone while Lee Roy served in Korea, two tours of Okinawa and Vietnam. They finally settled in Quitman and served in their community in every capacity wherever they felt they could help. She was, in her heart, a servant.  

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Shierling and Rev. Andy Daughtrey officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Kindergarten.
