Homer Barnett

Homer Barnett, 84, of Adel passed away on October 31, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Mr. Barnett was born on February 22, 1939, to the late Rufus and Bessie Barnett. As a young man, Homer served our country in the United States Air Force. After his service, he spent many years as a district manager for Dresser Industries where he dealt with many oil rigs. He will forever be remembered for his passion for life's simple pleasures. As a dedicated gardener, Homer found fulfillment in tending to his fruitful vegetable garden. He also enjoyed fishing as another outdoor pastime. Homer enjoyed the thrill of shopping, especially when he got to try the samples at Sam's Club. As an unwavering fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Homer proudly displayed his loyalty, sporting the team's colors and cheering them on through wins and losses. While he enjoyed many things, gospel music truly touched Homer's heart and soul, so much that he affectionally referred to it as "Singing To the Lord".

Homer leaves behind his son, Tom (Monica) Taylor of Mississippi; daughters, Lee (Bryan) Davies of Bartlett, TN, and Crystal Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Kathleen (Eugene) Houck of Barboursville, WV, and Sandra Kaye Barnett of Powell, OH; grandchildren, Allisha Murrell, Tricia Banry, Summer Taylor, Joey Taylor, and Bryan Davis; several great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Patricia Hubbard; "Angel Down the Road" Mamie Lamb of Adel; Mamies son, Jimmy (Elizabeth) Lamb; and many beloved friends. Homer is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Barnett; son, Roger Barnett; brothers, Donnis Edward Barnett, Gene Allen Barnett, and Michael Lowell Barnett; sister, Charlotte Ann Barnett; and grandchildren Sarah Davies and Jessica Taylor. 

Services for Mr. Barnett will be held at Purvis Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Jerry Wooten officiating.
