Harry Rupert Hardwick, Jr.

Mr. Harry Rupert Hardwick, Jr, 78 of Fitzgerald passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Hardwic k was born June 29, 1942 to the late Harry Rupert Hardwick Sr, and Dora Louise Renfroe Hardwick. Mr. Hardwick was a member of the Quitman First Baptist Church. He was a math teacher at Central High School, Thomasville, and Thomas Area Technical Schools. Mr. Hardwick managed Carmichaels Department Store in Quitman and also worked with Quitman Federal Savings and Loan.  He retired from Georgia Military College in Valdosta and then continued working for Cass Burch for 15 years.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Kathi) Hardwick of Harlem, GA, and Lydia (Chris) Hubert of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Ashley Watkins, Matthew Hardwick, and Andrew Hubert; and brother, Jimmy (Leta) Hardwick of Nellysford, VA. Mr. Hardwick was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Hardwick.
Graveside service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Steve Shierling and Rev. Andy Daughtry officiating. The family request is for the 'gang" from Brooks County High Schools class of 1960 to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends after the service.
