Very sadly, we announce the passing of Gloria Humphreys Scalion, 90 of Barwick on November 16, 2021. She was born June 7, 1931 and grew up in Barwick, Georgia. She attended Valdosta State and became an Elementary School teacher. She taught in Barwick, Cooledge, and Savannah, before moving to Florida in 1959 and taught school in Okaloosa County, Florida until 1993. She and her husband, Charles Scalion spent their golden years traveling all over the USA and Europe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Strozier and Margaret Humphreys; husband, Charles Scalion; brothers, John Archie Winters, and Alan (Bud) Winters; sister, Mae Biddle. Surviving family members are her daughter, Autumn Chislett; son, Nolan Smith; grandson and wife, Richard and Michelle Chislett, grandson, Brian Chislett; great granddaughters, Haley and Mindy, niece and husband, Oteria W. and David Seagle, niece and husband, Pat and Ebb Rogers, and niece, Johnete Winters Mask.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick at 1:00 p.m. She was a kind, sweet, woman, and a wonderful teacher. Many of her former students kept in touch with her, which made her so happy. She was loved dearly and will be missed by many. God Rest Her Soul.
