Mrs. Thelma Baker, 88 of Quitman passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021. Mrs. Baker was born July 23, 1932 in Eldorado, Ga to Lester L. Selph and Mary Lizzie Lawson Selph. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Baker; her son, Richard L. Baker; grandson, Jay Selph Baker; and great grandson, Dylan Jay Baker. She was the fifth of six siblings all of whom preceded her in death. She survived by her son and daughter in law, Jim and Marcia Baker, and son, Kenny Baker; grandsons, Ben Baker (Robin), Chris Baker (Crystal), and Brandi Smith Duda; granddaughter, Kisha Baker (Heather); great grandchildren, Andrew, Erin, Cole, Cale, Landry, Collins, and Willow Grace Baker.
Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and a seamstress. She loved to draw and paint landscapes, and collect treasures from other folk's junk. She mostly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a devout believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Presbyterian Home for the kindness and care they provided to Mrs. Baker.
Mrs. Baker will be laid to rest with a private service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fragile X Association online at fraxa.org.
