Faye Newsome

Faye Newsome, 75 of Quitman passed away Saturday November 11, 2023 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta. Faye was born February 6, 1948 in Nashville, GA to the late Joe Brown Gaskins & Flora Bell Burnsed Gaskins. 

She was a devout member of 50 years to her church, Welcome Hill Church of Christ. Among some of her passions were taking care of her flowers, garden, and babysitting little kids. Faye was an avid reader and was known as a great cook, which she enjoyed cooking for her family and community. She will be remembered by her family as the best Mama and Mema ever.

Survivors include her husband, David Newsome of Quitman; daughters, Lisa (Mitch) Hulett of Norman Park, and Laura (Daryn) Snipes of Hahira; grandchildren, Taylor (Kristen) Newsome, Abby Parks, Elle Shiver, and Madison (Wesley) Gelatt; great grandchildren, Makenzie, Aiden, David, and Cadence; sister, Linda (Steve) Fox of N. C.; and brother - in - law, Eddie Newsome of Quitman. Faye was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Babcock; sister, Joyce Lancaster, and her brother, Ronnie Gaskins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Hill Church of Christ with Preacher Jerry Baldree, Preacher Jerry Herring, and Preacher Shane Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
