Donele Blair Sizemore, 65, died Monday, April 17, 2023, after a battle with cancer. Donele was born October 25, 1957, in Thomasville, GA, to Deweece Blair and the late Donald Blair. She attended Georgia Southern University where she met and married her beloved husband, the late Stephen Wayne Sizemore. Donele later graduated from the University of Tennessee and began a career as an educator that spanned multiple school districts in Georgia, Minnesota, and Illinois, retiring after over 30 years in early elementary education. Obtaining her Master's in Education and Education Specialist degree, Donele was a lifelong advocate of continued learning and the public school system.
Sustained by her faith, Donele held a quiet strength and often provided thoughtful guidance to her family and friends. In life she remained joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. Donele was a member of Immanuel Church (Gurnee, IL) and, recently, Warren Baptist Church (Augusta, GA).
Along with her mother, she is survived by her sons, Stephen Parker Sizemore (Carlee) of Columbia, SC, and Christopher Blake Sizemore (Claire Avery) of Knoxville, TN; her grandchildren, Theodore Porter Sizemore, Philip Nolan Sizemore, and Ophelia Frances Sizemore; her siblings, Olin Blair, Vida Dowling, and Dot Blair, as well as their families.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hickory Head Baptist Church Cemetery with Josh Petersen officiating. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home..
