David Briggs Obituary

 David Briggs, 70 of Valdosta passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at South Georgia Medical Center. David was born June 16, 1952 in Honolulu Hawaii to the late Eugene & Mary Knight Briggs. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. David was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. He graduated from Valdosta High School and loved the wildcats. David was also an avid deer hunter.

Survivors include his children, Greggory (Kelly) Gitaitis of Atlanta, Joseph (April) Briggs of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl, Wade Briggs of Valdosta, and Kayla (Nathan) Briggs of Valdosta; stepson, Brad Purvis of Valdosta; and stepdaughter, Brianna Hawkins of Monticello, Fl. grandchildren, Selah Gitaitis, Gabriella Gitaitis, Avalynn Cooper, Amaya Briggs, and Jayde Briggs, brothers, Michael Briggs of Pinetta, FL, and Gerald Briggs of Riverview, FL; sister, MJ Briggs of Lee, Fl.; and close friend, Rommel Colvin. 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home. A graveside burial will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 394 N. W. Meeting Ave., Madison, FL. with military honors. Members of Valdosta Fire Dept, and SGMC EMS will serve as honorary pallbearers.
