Chris Forte

Chris Forte, 43 of Barney passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Keaton Beach, Florida. He was born October 11, 1976 in Valdosta. Chris was a loving husband to his wife and father to his two sons. He was passionate about the logging industry that he grew up learning about from his grandfather and father. Chris loved his parents immensely. He worked alongside his father his whole life and built his home on the family property. He was a proud supporter of Cook High Baseball of which both of his sons are team members. Chris loved people. To know him was to love him. He had an infectious personality and loved to make people laugh. Chris passed away doing what he loved, spearfishing off the coast of Keaton Beach, Florida where he grew up vacationing with his mother and father. He was surrounded by his wife and two sons.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Forte of Barney; sons, Cody Christopher Forte of Barney, and Case Charles Forte of Barney; parents, Charles & Carol Ann Forte of Barney; aunt, Susan Forte of Barney; uncle, Fritz Hayes of Alaska.  Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carroll Hayes and Elaine Hayes; paternal grandparents, Bobby Forte and Hazel Forte; and uncle Kenneth Hayes.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Springhead Baptist Church with Elder Dwight Marshall and Elder Thad Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
