Mr. Charles Busby, 91 of Quitman, GA passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Fellowship Home. He was born July 19, 1930 in Pelham, GA to the late Charlie Arthur & Beulah Shiver Busby. Mr. Busby served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the Destroyer USS Wedderburn. He was a member of Welcome Hill Church of Christ, and he loved his church, family and his wife, Frances Busby. Mr. Busby enjoyed fishing and growing his award winning daylilies, which he was a member of the Valdosta Daylily Club. He retired after many years from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an insurance salesman and Quitman Housing Authority.
Survivors include his children, Ken (Renee) Busby of Valdosta, and Kim (Dale) Rowell of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steven) Parrish of Hahira, Kenny (Brittanie) Busby of Lake Park, and Dakota Rowell of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Allie Parrish of Hahira, Abbie Parrish of Hahira, Hunter Busby of Lake Park, and Ansley Busby of Lake Park; and two sisters, Joyce Fuller of Tallahassee, and Dora Jean Busby of Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Busby was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Busby; brother, LeGary Busby, and stepmother, Polly Busby.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Maxwell – Purvis Funeral Home with Minister Jerry Herring, and Minister Drew Suttles officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
