Carlton Wingate Obituary

Mr. Lucious Carlton Wingate died Saturday, March 27, 2021. Carlton was born January 23, 1940, reared in Quitman, Georgia and graduated from Quitman High School and Valdosta State College. He began his career as an accountant, and moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina in the 1960's where he owned and operated an apple business, and a wholesale and retail nursery plant business until his death.

Carlton was the son of Lucious Terrell and Beatrice McDaniel Wingate. He is survived by his brother, Joe Wingate and was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian Floyd, Bertie Ruth Pollack, and brother Donald Wingate. Roscoe, Carlton's beloved cat and constant companion, will reside with Bonnie Merrell and her husband, Mike. Bonnie made Carlton a part of her family and was his business manager, friend and neighbor for many years.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home.
