CMSGT Timothy Bellamy Obituary

CMSgt Timothy R. Bellamy, 74 of Valdosta passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at his home following an illness. Tim was born on October 16, 1947 in Columbus Ohio to the late Raney and Marquerite Bellamy.

Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after his high school graduation. He switched to the Air Force several years later. Tim proudly served his country for 40 plus years with distinguished service, attainting the highest enlisted rank - CMSgt (Chief)! Tim earned many awards, medals, and commendations and was a Vietnam War veteran and Desert Storm/Shield War veteran. He was a flight engineer examiner on his military planes, C-123, C-130, and C-141. Tim had over 15,000 flying hours upon his retirement.

After retirement, he and his wife, Laura, enjoyed years of camping and traveling across the country in their RV. They met up with other retirees and made new friends across the country. They really enjoyed visiting the Amish communities!

Tim is survived by his wife, Laura Fontaine Bellamy of Valdosta; daughter Niki (John) Goldsmith, OH; sons, Shawn Bellamy, SD, and Shane (Megan) Bellamy, OH, and stepson Ryan (Amanda) Bell, FL; sisters, Drin (John) Splant, NC, and Deb (Dave) Hill, FL; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Tim is preceded in death by his son, Timothy (Timmy) A. Bellamy and former wife, Sharon Sue Bellamy.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at the Pearlman Cancer Center and Langdale Hospice for their compassionate care for Tim.

A memorial service is scheduled for September 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home in Quitman, Ga. Burial with full military honors will be September 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m at the Dayton National Cemetery.
