Mrs. Bessie Beatrice Overstreet Cook, 95 of Dixie passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Presbyterian Home Quitman. Mrs. Beatrice was born August 22, 1926, to the late John Mitchell Overstreet and Lily Pearl Britt Overstreet in White Plains, GA. She was the last living member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Beatrice was a homemaker and partner in the family farm with husband Turner, to whom she was married for 51 years. Beatrice loved to cook. She made the best biscuits and cinnamon rolls. Her cakes were a family favorite, especially her fruit cakes. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, tatten, and crocheted tablecloths for each of her eight granddaughters. Her faith and her family were the most important parts of her life. Having devoted most of her life to family, she turned to educating herself by getting her GED and completing most of a college education via correspondence with Liberty University.
Survivors include her children, Benjamin Turner (Barbara) Cook, Jr. of Ochlocknee, Carolyn Cook (Carl) White of Dixie, John Albert Cook of Rome, Jim (Freda) Cook of Fayetteville, Terry (Faye) Cook of Dixie; grandchildren, Benjamin Turner Cook, III, Rebecca Cook, Jonathan (Jill) Cook, Alicia Cook, Elizabeth Cook, Carl Walter (Guinka) White, Jr., Kathleen (James) Sullivan, Edwin (Amanda) White, John Albert (Billie) Cook, Jr., Kimberly (Joe) Eggleston, Lori Cook, Julie (Daniel) Adams, Terrance Cook, Daniel Cook, and Michael Cook; great grandchildren, Nathan Cook, Grace Cook, Ben Samples, Charles White, Lilia White, Katlyn Sullivan, Abigail Adams, James Adams, John Albert Cook, III, and Aster Cook; and grandson in law, David Hamlin. Mrs. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Turner "B. T." Cook; son, Chester Owen Cook; granddaughter, Anne Michelle White Hamlin; sister, Shirley Barbara Tanner; two brothers, John Mitchell Overstreet, Jr, and James Franklin Overstreet; and daughter in law, Beverly Cook.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Shierling officiating. The family will be receiving friends after the service.
