Mr. Warren “Alton” Hamlin, 72 of Quitman passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at Presbyterian Home Quitman. Mr. Hamlin was born August 16, 1947 to the late Sam Hamlin and Mary Woods Hamlin. He retired from the Quitman Fire Department. Mr. Hamlin enjoyed collecting arrowheads and was also a trapper.
Survivors include his children, Marie (Sammy) Boxx of Quitman, Will (Cassidy) Hamlin of Quitman, their mother, Mary Clark Lilly Hamlin of Lake Park, Pam (Tim) Vickers of Valdosta, and Michelle Bellflowers of Keaton Beach, FL their mother Iris Ives Chastain of Valdosta; grandchildren, Evan (Megan) Snow, Kyle (Lynze) Vickers, Dustin (Cassie) Vickers, Keith (Shelley) Snow, Autumn Clark, Warren Hamlin, Badan Hamlin, and Turner Hamlin; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Robinson of Lakeland, FL, Sharon (Charles) Adkins of Boston, GA, and Kathy (Jay) Bromley of Springdale, AR.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Hutto officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quitman Fire Department Appreciation Dinner, c/o Maxwell – Purvis Funeral Home, 908 N. Court St. Quitman, GA 31643.
