Mr. Alfred Brady, Jr., 85, of Valdosta, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Langdale Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born on April 20, 1938 in Cook County to Alfred Brady, Sr. and Lizzie Smithie Brady.
Mr. Brady later relocated to Valdosta, Georgia where he was employed at the Valdosta Fire Department as a Lieutenant for 38 years. He was also employed by the Lowndes County Small Claims Court where he served as bailiff for 17 years. Mr. Brady was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Spain Ferry Hunting Club as well as the Rocky Knights Hunting Club. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Richardson Brady; his daughter Kim Brady Davis (Mark); a son, Tim Brady (Ann); along with four grandchildren, Ashlyn Davis Williams (Kenneth), Timothy Brady, Morgan Brady, and Jamie Stalvey, as well as his best friend Bob Rousseau; and he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his parents, Alford Brady, Sr, and Lizzie Brady, brother John Brady and two sisters, Kathryn Parrish and Vivian Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Church of God in Valdosta with the Rev. Wayne Hughes and Rev. Darrell Owens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Abundant Life Church of God to support the Gideon Bible Ministry.
