Sybil Johnson

Mrs. Sybil Johnson, 83 of Quitman passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Presbyterian Home Quitman.  Mrs. Johnson was born March 8, 1935 to the late J. W. & Earline Taylor Bowen.  She was a member of Elam Community Baptist Church and was former manager of Quitman Federal Bank, which is now Colony Bank.  Mrs. Johnson retired as manager from Thomas County Federal Bank.  

Survivors include her son, Johnny (Jodi) Johnson of Quitman; daughter, Donna (Billy) Jarvis of Thomasville; grandchildren, Ivy, Blaine, Jennifer, Jeremy, Casey, Elizabeth, Kelly, Matt, and Dusty; great grandchildren, Stephen, Breanna, Hunter, Clay, and Grayson.  Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Johnson; son, Ray Johnson; granddaughter, Logan; and one brother, Bobby Bowen.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Elam Community Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Blow and Rev Carlton Hart officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
