Michael Howell Obituary

Mr. Michael Howell, 56 of Nashville passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Mike was born December 31, 1962 in Newport, Rhode Island on the Navy base.   and was the son of Celia P. Souls and the late Joseph Wayne Howell, Sr., and step-son of late John B. “Big John” Souls.

He graduated high school in Gibson GA, in 1980, but actually left for Army basic training in Ft. Hood, TX, before his graduation ceremony. He served for three years & was mainly stationed in Germany. He had top secret security clearance while he served as a communications officer. He left the service in 1983, moving to Orlando FL, before moving to Tennille, Ga.

Mike lived in Nashville, GA for the last 14 ½ years, moving here from middle Georgia in 2005. He was a Christian and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He worked as the night guard at Win Fab (Nashville Mills) since 2005, very rarely missing a shift. Before moving to Nashville he lived in Washington County, GA, working first at the local radio station, WSNT in Sandersville, as a night disc jockey, until it automated. After that he used to ride his bicycle to work about 10 miles, when he worked in the produce department at the local Piggly Wiggly.

He loved his rock & roll music but could listen to any genre. He had a vast collection of vinyl albums, cassettes, CD’s and finally digital downloads. He was an avid Las Vegas Raiders fan. He supported his team and their move to Las Vegas. He loved to laugh and was known to joke around but could be serious also. He also had a very sarcastic nature & was known to use the nickname “sarcasticman.”

He never married nor did he have any children. The closest thing to children were his sister’s children, James, Alex and Davina, whom he used to help take care of when they were young and lived near them most of their lives since moving from Florida.
