Mrs. Mary Williams, 74 of Quitman passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at Archbold Medical Center. Mrs. Williams was born March 6, 1945 to the late Homer Fulton Hunt & Ivey Eunice Cook Hunt. She worked for Quitman Manufacturing Co and Weeks Textile Co. Mrs. Williams was also the former owner of Chapel Street Grocery and retired as secretary from American Cold Storage. She was a member of Quitman Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Doug Williams and girlfriend, Pamela Mullins-Wood of Quitman; daughter, Janet (Joe) Barber of Quitman; grandchildren, Jennifer (Demetrius) Duncan, James Worley, Corey Williams, Ryan Barber and girlfriend, Madison Sapp, and Jordan Barber; great grandchild, Ashlee Worley; one brother, Melvin (Judy) Hunt of Albany; three sisters, Joyce (Bill) Morris of Rome, GA, Doris Walker of Shelman, GA., and Patricia Faber of Jennings, Fl; several nieces & nephews; and special granny to Hanna & Ross Dawson, children of Dr. Rachel Velez. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Quitman Church of Christ with Minister J. T. Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Purvis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Christian School, 4359 Dasher Rd., Valdosta, GA 31601.
