James Welch

Mr. James Welch, 71 of Sparks passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.  Mr. Welch was born February 4, 1947 to the late Robert Henry Welch and Annie Bell Gaskins Welch.  He retired as a truck driver with Adel Grocery Co. and was a member of Hall's Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Welch of Sparks; children, Angelia Marie Welch Sumner (James David) of Sparks, and Shelia Renee Welch Serrano (Rafael Serrano) of Ocala, Fl; grandchildren, Stacy Marie Gallegos, Samantha Amber Lynn Cook, Christopher Quentin Cook, and Breanna Renee Wilson; great grandchildren, Destiny Reanna Pete, Anna Marie Gallegos, Cassandra Lynette Teniente, Jasmeen Yaneli Cook, Camila Evette Teniente, Gabriela Marie Cook, Steven Ray Gallegos, Esperanza Allison Teniente, and Natalie Isabella Cook; two brothers, Henry Lee Welch of Ala., and Douglas Howard Welch of Tifton; four sisters, Jewel Welch Hunt of Adel, Helen Hunt of Ala., Patricia Diane Welch Reese of Nashville, and Betty Lou Welch Goosby (Gordon) of Ala.  Mr. Welch was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene Welch, Johnny Willis Welch, and Allen Leroy Welch.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Beggs officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
