Ernest Eugene Yawn, 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018, in Beaumont, Texas. Ernest was born on Tuesday, October 17, 1933, in Quitman, Georgia, to parents Josephine (Black) and William Ernest Yawn. After time served with the United States Navy from 1952-1956, during the Korean Conflict, Ernest moved in 1967 from Quitman, Georgia, to begin working in Orange, Texas, at Temple-Inland. Ernest and his loving wife, Barbara, remained in Orange, to continue working and raise their three children. Ernest was a man who loved life. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and was known for his great smile. Ernest was a man who was dearly loved and will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Ernest is survived by his sons, Rick Yawn and his wife, Tammy, of Orange, Texas, and Kim Yawn, and his wife, Buffy, of Quitman, Georgia; daughter, Lisa Campos and her husband, Lee, of Bridge City, Texas; sister, Shirley Billingsley and husband, Monroe, of Quitman, Georgia; grandchildren, Michelle Reeves, Jessica Yawn, Kimberly Sapp, Natalie Gourley, Ginger Sharp, Stacey Brandon, Brent Yawn, Amy Yawn, Brandon Yawn, Jessica Mills, Brooke Clark, Kiefer Dunbar, Nathan Campos, Angela Yawn, and David Block; 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many members of extended family and friends. Mr. Yawn was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Yawn; parents, William and Josephine Yawn, and one brother, Charles Yawn.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Maxwell - Purvis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
