Dr. Lovick Hugh Williamson, Jr., passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida on April 29, 2017 at the age of 82.

Lovick is predeceased by his mother Winona Inez Dugger Williamson Hinchliffe, his father Dr. Lovick Hugh Williamson, Sr., his brother Larry Williamson and his son, Stephen Rowland Williamson.

Lovick is lovingly remembered by his son, Michael Hugh Williamson and his wife, Sharon Williamson of Peachtree Corners, GA.; his daughter, Vickie Lynn Williamson of Woodbridge, VA; his grandchildren, Lea Howland, Nicholas Howland, Jarrod Howland, Michael Williamson, Jr., Matthew Williamson, and great granddaughter, Emma Rose Lynch.  He is also remembered by Jackie Williamson, his sister, Ann Anderson, his brothers, Dan Williamson, and Bill Williamson and of course his much beloved Debra Feldman and his "angel of care" Marcia Merritt.

Dr. Williamson was born in Atlanta, GA.  He attended the University of Georgia and graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in 1957.  He was in private practice in Quitman for 25 years.  While living in Quitman, he served as a member of the board of trustees of the Georgia Optometric Association, the board of city tax assessors, and five years as chairman of the board of Westbrook School in Dixie.

After moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1984, he began to travel extensively.  He visited every state but Alaska and most of Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, and the Near East.  It was during this time he found his passion for photography; eventually becoming the highest rated photographer in the Coral Springs Camera Club of 1993 in advanced slides.  He had prize-winning work published in a national photography magazine thus leading him to lecture and serve as competition judge to several other Florida photography groups.

Lovick was a member of American Mensa, Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and a life member of B.P.O. Elks.  He proudly served six years as a member of the Georgia National Guard.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on May 13, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, where he will peacefully rest beside his son Stephen and forever remain "Footloose and Fancy Free."

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Fl. in honor of Dr. Williamson who never gave up.
