Burdeen Mathis

Mrs. Burdeen Mathis, 76 of Adel passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her residence.  Mrs. Mathis was born February 5, 1943 to the late Thomas Edward Davis & Evelyn Portivent Davis.  She was a member of Massee Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Mathis of Adel; children, Diane Vinson of Adel, Stephen (Tonya) Mathis of Metcalfe, GA, and Julie (Jack) Cannady of Thomasville; grandchildren, Ashli Hogan, Andrew Stephens, Amanda Stephens, Eli Stephens, Kristina Shealey, and Amber Mathis; great grandchildren, Brady, Jackson, Lanie, Addilyn, Mia, and Sawyer; sister, Geraldine Hickey of Meigs, GA; several nieces and nephews; and her special dog of 15 years, Max.  Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her daughter, Kahla Gangler; brother, Quinton Davis; and sisters, Kate Akridge, Emogene Taylor, and Angelia Flowers.  

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Massee Baptist Church with Rev. Philip Badley, Rev. Franklin Vinson, and Rev. Dennis Grimsley officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
