Mrs. Bonnie Sue Spencer, 75 of Barney passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Spencer was born August 25, 1942 to the late Joe Crowder McClure and Pauline Collier McClure. She was a college professor for many years before retiring and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie. Mrs. Spencer was the Queen of the Red Bells of Barney Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Spencer of Barney; daughters, Carla Spencer of Barney, and Karen (Sol) Summerlin of Barney; grandchildren, Luke Kelly, Jacob Kelly, John Mark Kelly, Isabella Summerlin, and Solomon Summerlin; brother, James (Rene) McClure of Shaw, MS; several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Walton, and brother in law, John Walton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Okapilco Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Icard, and Mr. John Mark Kelly officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will follow in Cleveland, Mississippi. Serving as honorary pallbearers are The Red Belles of Barney Chapter of the Red Hat Society, Louise Sapp, Audrey Cooper, Virginia Sapp, Barbara Thompson, and Sandy Morrison; special friends, Kathy Walker, Beth Drew, and Linda Tillman; caregivers, Aurelia Camacho, Tania Lopez, Wanda Terry, Sylvia Edwards, and Karen Grady.
