Mr. Roy Bamburg, 69 of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Bamburg was born March 2, 1948 in Monroe, Louisiana.  He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.  Mr. Bamburg worked with the Sheriff's Department in Laramie, Wyoming, the Thomas Co. Corrections, the Brooks Co. Sheriff's Dept., the Lowndes Co. Sheriff's Office and retired as the Ray City Police Chief in 2013.  

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Diane Tillman Bamburg of Valdosta; mother, Harriet Blunt "Mickey" Bamburg of Valdosta; children, Michael Bamburg of Valdosta, Macy (Ryan) Storme of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Maria Bamburg of WY, Matthew Bamburg of Valdosta; stepson, Steve (Joella) Adams of Nashville; step daughter in law, Annette Adams of Nashville; grandchildren, Katelyn Storme, Tanner Storme, Cameron Storme, Nicklaus Bamburg, Sadie Marie Bamburg, Michael Tyler Reaves, and Jason Page; step grandsons, Lee Adams, and Ryan Adams; three sisters, Sylvia (Phillip) Selph of Valdosta, Debra (Richard) Joseph of Atlanta, and Janet Gordon of CA. Mr. Bamburg was preceded in death by his former spouse, Carla F. Dean Bamburg; father, Ellis Langley Bamburg; stepson, Butch Adams; brother, Ross Bamburg.  

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Harris, and Rev. Earl Justice officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, P O Box 94, Quitman, GA  31643.
