Mr. Noel Childers, 75 of Barney passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Childers was born April 10, 1942 to the late Edgar L. Childers and Maude Evelyn Thompson Childers.  He served in the Georgia National Guard and was a farmer before he retired.  Mr. Childers also served on the Board of the Colquitt EMC for 30 years, GA Cattleman Association, Wiregrass Cattleman Association, and the GA Farm Bureau for many years.  He was also Co-Director of the Brooks Co. Farm Bureau and a Deacon at Morrison Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Childers, of Barney; son, Kurt (Lynn) Childers of Barney; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Childers, and Malerie (Heath) Williams; one great grandchild, Kennedy Williams; two brothers, Wilbur Lynn (Sara) Childers of Berlin, and William (Ingrid) Childers of Quitman; two sisters, Nancy Hallford of Memphis, TN, and Edna (Herbert) Connell of Berlin. Mr. Childers was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Touchton.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Morrison Baptist Church with Pastor Ernie Jones, Rev. Michael Slaven, Rev. Skip VanNus, and Rev. Bob Willis officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.
