Mr. James William Gessford, III, 79 of Sparks passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Gessford was born July 2, 1938 to the late James W. Gessford, II and Audrey Simmons Gessford.  

Survivors include his children, James Gessfors IV, Patrick Gessford of Lenox, Lisa Weaver of Indiana, Mary Beth (Joey) McDonald of Sparks, and Greta (Jerry) Strum of OK; grandchildren, Timothy McDonald, Chris McDonald, Selena McDonald, Joey McDonald, Jr., Sabrina Barrett, James William Gessford V, Heather Huerta, Brittany Blackshear, Virginia Gessford, Stephanie Strum, Timothy, Crystal Strum, Wesley Hudson, Christina Gessford, Angela Gessford, Katelyn Gessford, Jerimah Gessford, Jacob Gessford, Annie Belle Miley, Noel Gessford, Christina Weaver, Casey Weaver, Nathan Gessford, Kimberly Weaver, William Gessford, and Carrie Weaver; great grandchildren, Haley Womack, Danielle Barrett, Michael Barrett, Lane Barrett, Brandon Barrett, Reagan McDonald, Christopher McDonald, Lee McDonald, Victoria McDonald, Chas McDonald, and Mattie McDonald; several great great grandchildren; companion, Edardine Reece of Sparks; one brother, Gary Gessford of St. Petersburg, Fl.  Mr. Gessford was preceded in death by son, Joey Gessford; one sister, Deloris Wines.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Glenn Tanner officiating.  The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home.
