Anthony DelRossi Obituary

Mr. Anthony DelRossi, 61 of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center.  Mr. DelRossi was born December 7, 1956 to the late Michael Anthony DelRossi and Lillian Naomi DelRossi.  He served in the United States Army for 15 years achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class.  During his tour of duty he received six Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, five Good Conduct Medals, The National Defense Medal, three NCO Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons, Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle M-16, Expert Marksmanship Badge Grenade.  He was also first in his class at Jump-Master Training Academy.  Following his separation from the United States Army with an honorable discharge, Mr. DelRossi pursued a career with the Georgia Department of Corrections.  During his employment with GDC he attained the Rank of Correctional Captain and worked at several different high security prisons during his 17 year career with the Georgia Department of Corrections.  Mr. DelRossi was also a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Valdosta. 

Survivors include his wife Lunora Myers DelRossi of Valdosta; beloved stepchildren, Donny Piland of Milledgeville, GA, Debbie Southerland of Valdosta, and Kevin (Belinda) Piland of Valdosta; son in law, Robert Norene of Navarre, FL.; beloved step grandchildren, April Southerland, Derek Piland, Jacen Southerland, Ryan Piland, Kayla Piland, Tiffany Piland, Justin Piland, Dennis Piland, Danielle Burch, Holly Griffis, and Aidan Norene; numerours step greatgrandchildren; brothers, Sidney (Theresa) Lyons of Valdosta, Larry (Judy) Lyons of Valdosta, David (Brandie) DelRossi of Tallahassee, Douglas DelRossi of TX, Michael DelRossi of Valdosta, Matthew DelRossi of Valdosta, Randolph DelRossi of VA, and Stephen DelRossi of Colorado; sisters, Frances (Richard Collenette of Valdosta, and Carolyn Herbert.  Mr. DelRossi was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Tammie Norene; and one sister, Sharon MacKenzie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church in Valdosta with Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating.  Interment will follow at Kennedy Chapel Cemetery in Coolidge Ga. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as active pallbearers are Justin Piland, Larry Lyons II, David DelRossi, Kevin Piland, Donny Piland, and Jacen Southerland.
